Selangor wraps around Kuala Lumpur on almost every side, and its KTV lounges sit in the busy suburbs just past the city limits. Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya and Puchong each have one lounge on our list. As a result, many groups never need to drive into KL for a night of singing.

The scene here feels more local than in Bukit Bintang. The lounges sit in office blocks, malls and shoplots rather than on tourist strips. They are adult nightlife venues for guests aged 18 and over, and they do not suit children. That said, karaoke Selangor has a real strength: two of its three lounges stay open long after the city closes.

Where to sing in Selangor

In Petaling Jaya, Crystal KTV runs an evening lounge on the ground floor of Damansara Intan, off Jalan SS 20/27. A business directory lists 16 private rooms. It opens from 5pm to 2am, Monday to Saturday, and closes on Sundays.

Subang Jaya, meanwhile, has De-Millionaire KTV (富豪城) on Level 1A of Sky Park at One City in USJ 25. It lists hours from 6pm to 8am and decorates rooms for birthdays. Further south, De Palace KTV fills a three-storey shoplot in Bandar Puchong Jaya and lists itself as open 24 hours.

Getting around takes more planning than in KL. Crystal KTV is about 1.2 km from Taman Tun Dr Ismail MRT station. De Palace, however, is a short drive from IOI Puchong Jaya LRT, and One City has its own mall car park. So most people drive or use e-hailing. If your group plans to drink, book a car home instead of driving.

The right room depends on who is coming, how much you want to spend and how late you plan to stay. These pointers help you narrow it down.

Which town suits your group?

Pick the lounge closest to where your group lives or works. Crystal KTV suits an after-work session in PJ, since it opens at 5pm. De-Millionaire suits a celebration in Subang Jaya or USJ. What is your budget?

All three lounges are a premium night out. At Crystal KTV and De Palace, Google Maps users report spending RM200 or more per person. De-Millionaire promotes a 3pm to 7pm happy hour and beer and liquor packages, but it publishes no figures. Therefore, ask for the room minimum and package price in writing. Late nights

Selangor has the latest hours on our site. De Palace KTV lists 24-hour opening, and De-Millionaire runs from 6pm to 8am. By contrast, Crystal KTV closes at 2am and stays shut on Sundays. If you plan to finish late, check the venue page first, because hours shift with promotions and public holidays.

Celebrations and work nights

For a birthday, De-Millionaire is the clearest pick, because its Instagram shows balloon and lighting setups for small groups. Booking a lounge in Selangor

None of the three lounges takes online bookings. Instead, you call or message them. Crystal KTV takes phone calls, while De-Millionaire and De Palace both use WhatsApp. In addition, De-Millionaire answers Instagram messages. Ask about room size, the drinks package and the closing time on your date.

Also, bring ID. De-Millionaire and De Palace both state an 18+ policy, and Crystal KTV asks guests to check its age rules. Finally, double-check the hours on the day. De-Millionaire's happy hour, for example, does not match its listed opening time, so a quick message saves a wasted trip.

Shah Alam and Klang
