Why karaoke works for teams
Karaoke gives a group something to do together after the meal. Quiet colleagues can join a chorus without giving a speech. Managers can sing badly and look human. As a result, a karaoke night often feels more relaxed than a formal banquet hall.
That said, a corporate event has different needs from a night out with friends. You need a room big enough for everyone, a clear budget, food that suits all diets and a safe way home. In addition, someone usually needs a proper bill for claims. This guide works through each of those points.
If your team includes people who have never been to a KTV, share our KTV etiquette guide beforehand. It covers ordering songs, sharing the mic and other basics.

Company dinner KTV KL formats
There are three common ways to run a company dinner KTV KL event. Each has a different cost and feel. Keep in mind that KTV lounges are 18+ nightlife venues, so every guest must be an adult.
Dinner and karaoke in one room
Some venues serve a full meal inside the karaoke room. This is the simplest option for a team, because nobody has to move between venues. Mansion 9 KTV is the clearest example in our research. It serves Chinese and Cantonese set menus at round banquet tables in private karaoke rooms, and it lists company dinners and client entertaining among its themes.
However, the kitchen closes at 11pm, while drinks run until closing at 3am. So plan the meal early and the singing after.
Room package with bar food
Most lounges sell a room package or set a minimum spend, then serve bar food on the side. For instance, Golden Palace KTV bundles room time with 12 to 36 cans of beer and lists business entertaining among its themes. Crown KTV in Bukit Bintang serves wings, fried rice, seafood and satay alongside bottle service. This format suits a team that has already eaten or wants snacks rather than a banquet.
Dinner first, karaoke after
Finally, you can eat at a restaurant and move to a lounge afterwards. This gives you more choice of food. On the other hand, moving 30 people between venues takes time, and some will go home early. So pick a restaurant close to the lounge.
Large rooms for big groups
Room size is usually the first limit. Most lounges only have one or two rooms for 20+ people. Here is what venues have published or reviewers have reported:
- Mansion 9 shows rooms for 30+ guests in an official room video.
- D'Arc Club in Ampang has a very large "King's Room", according to Google reviews.
- Golden Palace sells four room sizes, up to numbered VIP rooms.
- D'Emperor KTV on Jalan Ipoh sells four room tiers, from small to VIP.
- Crystal KTV in Damansara Intan has 16 private rooms, per a business directory listing.
For a team of 50 or more, you may need two adjoining rooms. So ask the venue whether it can place your rooms side by side.
Budgeting per head
Most KL lounges quote prices before a 10% service charge and 8% SST. So add roughly 18% to any "++" figure. Here are the sourced numbers that matter for corporate karaoke in KL:
| Venue | What it covers | Published price | Source and date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mansion 9 KTV | 10-person dining and karaoke sets | Birthday Set A RM1,688++; CNY sets from RM1,988+ (about RM169–RM199 per head before charges) | Official Instagram, Feb 2025 |
| Golden Palace KTV | Big room with 24 cans of beer | RM938++ or RM1,188++ (two time columns on the poster) | Official promo poster, 2026 |
| Golden Palace KTV | VIP room with 36 cans of beer | RM1,388++ or RM1,688++; extension RM200++ per hour | Official promo poster, 2026 |
| D'Emperor KTV | Happy-hour beer tower (4pm–9pm) | RM208 nett | Official Instagram, Jun 2026 |
| Crown KTV | Bar food | Half-dozen BBQ wings RM58++; seafood fried rice RM28++ | Undated owner-uploaded menu |
As a rough guide, Mansion 9's sets come to about RM200 per person once charges apply. Google Maps users also tag most lounges in this guide at RM200+ per person once drinks are added. So a team of 20 should plan for at least RM4,000 in total. For more detail on how venues charge, see our KTV price KL guide.
Booking lead times
Book early, especially for year-end dinners and the weeks around Chinese New Year. Large rooms are scarce, and other companies will want the same dates. For a group of 20 or more, start calling three to four weeks ahead.
Also check each venue's booking rules. Mansion 9 takes bookings by phone or WhatsApp, because its old online booking link no longer works. Golden Palace lists two booking numbers plus individual staff lines on its Facebook page. Meanwhile, Crystal KTV closes on Sundays, so plan a weekday or Saturday event there.
Corporate booking checklist: confirm the room capacity, the full price with service charge and SST, the menu, the deposit and refund terms, and whether the venue can issue an invoice in your company's name. Ask for everything in writing.
Invoices, SST and claims
A proper bill should show the 10% service charge and the 8% SST as separate lines. If your finance team needs an invoice in the company's name, ask the venue before you book. We did not find any venue that publishes its corporate invoicing process. So treat this as a question for the booking call, not something to fix on the night.
In addition, agree in advance who pays for extras. Bottles, extra hours and late food orders can push the bill well past budget. One simple rule: the company covers the package, and anything extra needs the organiser's approval.
Drinks and inclusiveness
Not everyone drinks, and not everyone eats the same food. A good team event works for all of them. KTV lounges, however, are 18+ nightlife venues built around beer and spirits. They suit some teams but can leave others out.
So talk to your team before you book. Make sure soft drinks are on the order, and never pressure anyone to drink. If you have Muslim colleagues, check food and drink arrangements carefully. Ask each venue directly about halal food, and do not assume. If a lounge does not fit your whole team, a restaurant dinner may be the fairer choice.
Also think about song choice. Ask the venue whether its system has Malay, Mandarin, Cantonese, Tamil and English songs, so everyone can find something to sing.
Getting everyone home
Plan transport before the night, not after. If alcohol is served, encourage everyone to use Grab or a taxi instead of driving. Some companies cover the ride home as part of the budget.
Location matters too. Mansion 9 is about 1.5 km from Cochrane MRT, so e-hailing is the practical choice. Golden Palace is about 1.3 km from Kuchai MRT. By contrast, Crown KTV and Bintang Palace sit in central karaoke Bukit Bintang, close to the monorail, where e-hailing cars are easy to find. If your office is in the east of the city, our KTV Kampung Pandan page shows what else is nearby.
